I’m obsessed with this recipe. It’s so incredibly easy and the best part is that you can make it the night before. Wake up, pop in the oven and enjoy! I’m all about recipes that are deceivingly easy. Things that look like they are straight from a bakery or they took hours because they taste so incredibly good. This is one of those type of recipes.

The perfect part is you can put this in the oven then go hang out on the couch with your coffee because the work is done. Unless you have a toddler, then you never get to enjoy your coffee.

Check out this incredibly easy, incredibly delicious Overnight French Toast recipe and let me know what you think!

Ingredients

1 loaf day-old French bread

2 cups Hiland Whole Milk

7 large eggs

3/4 cup brown sugar

3/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Pinch of kosher salt

TOPPING

1/2 cup Hiland Butter, cut into cubes

1/2 cup flour

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 cup berries (fresh or frozen)

HOMEMADE WHIPPED CREAM

1 cup Hiland Heavy Cream

1 Tablespoon sugar

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13 casserole dish and set aside.
  2. Cut the French bread loaf into cubes and layer in the casserole dish. You want two layers of bread.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt together until combined. Pour egg mixture over the bread layers and make sure to cover all the bread.
  4. Cover and place in the fridge overnight or at least 3 hours.
  5. To make the topping: place the cubed butter, flour, and brown sugar in a small bowl. Using a pastry cutter or two forks (or even your hands), combine the mixture together until it forms crumbles. Refrigerate until ready to bake the French toast.
  6. To bake: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Pour crumble mixture over the top of the casserole evenly. Then, top with the berries. Bake for 40-50 minutes uncovered.
  7. To make the homemade whipped cream: in a medium bowl, pour in the heavy cream and sugar. Mix with a stand mixer or hand mixer until stiff peaks form.
  8. Once casserole is done baking, top with the whipped cream (and don’t forget the maple syrup)!
