Comfort food plus one pan dinner is my kind of night. Caramelized onions to start and then you add the chicken plus the french onion soup and the Hiland Dairy French Onion dip to add that super creaminess and boost the french onion flavor. All topped with a lot of cheese. So much cheese.
Add some noodles or veggies to this yummy dish and you have a happy family. I love adding more types of recipes for chicken in my bag of tricks. It’s an easy go to meal and a delicious dinner.

A creamy and comforting, one pan easy chicken dish to make for dinner. A great weeknight meal for your family.
1 yellow onion, sliced
1 Tablespoon Hiland Dairy Butter
6 chicken breasts
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 can French Onion soup (10.5 oz)
½ cup Hiland Dairy French Onion Dip
½ cup (or more) mozzarella cheese
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a cast iron pan or a large skillet on medium heat, melt the Hiland Butter and add the sliced onions. Cook the onions until they are soft, about 8-10 minutes. Once cooked, remove from the pan onto a plate and set aside.
Season the chicken breasts with paprika and garlic powder. In the same skillet, spray nonstick spray and then place the chicken breasts into the pan. Cook on each side for about 3-4 minutes until cooked through.
Add the onions back into the pan with the chicken. Then add the French Onion Soup and the Hiland French Onion Dip into the pan. Stir all together and cook for about 5-7 minutes more.
If using a skillet (non oven safe) then transfer chicken and sauce to a baking dish. If using a cast iron pan, you can leave the chicken and sauce in that pan.
Cover chicken mixture with mozzarella cheese and then place in the oven. Cook for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let sit for about 5 minutes before serving.
