One of my favorite things is when I can take a classic snack or recipe and give it just a tiny little twist and make it different and fun that Leah gets so excited about. These little Ham, Cheese and Apple Pockets are a perfect example of that.

You tuck a little cheese and apple into a ham (or turkey) slice and you have a fun little vehicle for a healthy snack. I started calling them pockets and then Leah one day said “mom! they look like sleeping bags!” You can choose whichever name you like or see what your kiddo comes up with too. Any variation of cheese, fruit or meat will work. We had ham, colby and jack and an apple on hand.

Add some crackers and it’s a fun and yummy kid friendly snack. Details below on how to make the sleeping bag!

Instructions

  1. Lay out the slice of ham or turkey. Place the slice of cheese in the middle, then place the apple slice on top of the cheese.
  2. Fold one side of the ham to the middle, fold the other side to the middle then fold the bottom underneath the whole thing to make a little sleeping bag for your cheese and apple.
  3. Add a cracker and enjoy!
