So a few weeks ago, I saw a friend post a photo of Baked French Toast and I immediately drooled. It looked SO good. So the weekend came along and guess what? I had leftover french bread! And it was slowly getting crusty so it was clearly fate.

I cut some bread and made myself a little egg mixture and then got really fancy and decided to make it Cinnamon Roll inspired. Boom. Baked it and then…..made a little cream cheese frosting drizzle. I’m going to be really honest with you guys, I mean, we’re friends right? I ate so many spoonfuls of that cream cheese drizzle, I ended up with a stomach ache. Am I 6? I mean, I know how it all works. I just couldn’t stop.

Also, the perfect bite of french toast is the middle of the bread slice, good amount of the cinnamon sugar mixture and the perfect amount of cream cheese drizzle. Gushy and perfect!

Ingredients

12 loaves french bread

5 eggs

3/4 cup whole milk

2 teaspoons vanilla

1/2 tablespoon cinnamon

2 teaspoons nutmeg

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 tablespoon cinnnamon

1 cup cream cheese frosting, softened

Cream Cheese Frosting Ingredients

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese (room temperature)

1/2 cup butter (room temperature)

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

2 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Slice the french bread into 1/2 inch slices and place one layer in a greased 9×13 pan.
2. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.
3. Pour 1/2 of the liquid mixture over the slices of bread. Place another layer of the sliced bread on top of the other bread. Pour the rest of the liquid mixture over the other slices of bread.
4. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon on top and place in the preheated oven. I get in there and sprinkle it on the bottom layer too.
5. Bake at 350 for 25- 30 minutes, or until all the mixture is absorbed and baked into the bread. Remove from oven and let cool for about 5 minutes. Serve and drizzle with melty cream cheese frosting.
Cream Cheese Frosting Directions
1. In a stand or with a hand mixer, mix the cream cheese and butter on medium speed for a few minutes until combined and creamy. Add vanilla and mix again until combined.
2. Add powdered sugar one cup at a time, mix on low until combined and smooth. Add salt and cinnamon if desired and mix again.
