Sweet and spicy Whiskey Barbecue Sliders are easy to make, perfect size and packed with flavor!
I always think of a movie (that I can’t remember the name for the life of me) but one chick is pregnant and eating a bunch of sliders and asks her sister how many sliders add up to a whole burger. Let’s go with seven? I am fully aware that is not accurate or even close, but it makes me feel better when I eat 3 of these.
Mostly the reasoning behind these is that I’m a sucker for any type of mini food or dessert. But even more so when it’s in the form of a burger. I could eat sliders every day for the rest of my life and be happy. These little gems are even more special because they are piled with caramelized onions and barbecue sauce spiked with a little whiskey. Because, why not? (you can definitely leave the whiskey out too. These are delicious either way!)
Perfect for a summer dinner, a family burger night or having friends over. Check out the recipe below and let me know what you think!
Sweet and spicy Whiskey Barbecue Sliders are easy to make, perfect size and packed with flavor!
2 pounds ground beef
salt and pepper
4 Tablespoons butter
1 large onion, sliced
1/2 cup whiskey
1 cup barbecue sauce
1/4 cup jalapeño slices (optional)
Slider buns
1. Form beef into mini patties and sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper on both sides.
2. In a cast iron pan or skillet, melt the butter on medium-high heat. Add the patties and coot about 3 minutes on each side, do shifts of patties to cook so you don’t crowd the pan with too many. Once all are done, set aside.
3. In the same skillet, add the sliced onions, stir and cook for about 4 minutes. Pour in the whiskey slowly and stir. Cook the whiskey down until about 1/2 remains, about 3 minutes. Pour in barbecue sauce and jalepenos (if using) and stir again.
4. Turn the heat to low and put the cooked slider patties back into the pan with the barbecue sauce. Turn the patties over so they are covered in the sauce.
5. Let sauce simmer for another 2-3 minutes. Then place patties on slider buns, spoon up onion/barbecue sauce on top and cover with top bun. Enjoy!
