This recipe is a classic one that is really easy to make, so good and always a crowd pleaser. It gives me childhood dinner vibes for some reason but it’s a great weeknight dinner idea or even a great appetizer for a party.

Starts with chicken, garlic and onions then mixed with a cream cheese base to form a super delicious and comforting dinner. These take less than 30 minutes. The only downside is that I can’t stop eating them.

Ingredients

1 Tablespoon vegetable oil

2 chicken breasts cut into small pieces, cooked

1/4 cup chopped onion

1 Tablespoon minced garlic

8 ounces cream cheese, room temp

6 tablespoons butter, room temp

1 tube Crescent Roll dough

Shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. You will also need a sheet pan with a Silpat or nonstick spray.
  2. In a skillet on medium heat, add the vegetable oil, onion and garlic. Cook for about 3 minutes and then add the chopped chicken. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the chicken gets a bit browned on the outside.
  3. While the chicken is browning, add the cream cheese and butter to a medium sized bowl. With a hand mixer, whisk or spatula mix together the two until smooth.
  4. Then add the chicken/onion mixture to the cream cheese mixture and stir everything together until smooth.
  5. Unroll your Crescent dough then cut in half and then in half again until you have 12 rectangles.
  6. Place a pinch of shredded cheddar cheese on the middle of the rectangle dough. Spoon chicken mixture onto each rectangle (about 1 Tablespoon) into the middle on top of the cheese.
  7. Then take each corner of the dough and pull to the middle and pinch them all together to seal.
  8. Place onto sheet pan and then sprinkle each one with another pinch of shredded cheese. Bake for 12-15 minutes until dough is set.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool a few minutes then enjoy!
