Ingredients

Brownie Layer-

1/2 cup salted butter

2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips (1 cup for melting and 1 cup to put in the batter)

3/4 cup sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar

3 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons all purpose flour

2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

Cream Cheese Layer-

8 oz Hiland Dairy Cream Cheese

¼ cup sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Orange food coloring

Instructions

  1. Brownie Layer: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and spray a 9×9 pan with nonstick spray or line with parchment paper.

  2. Melt the butter and 1 cup chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl for 30 second increments until melted and smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.

  3. In a large bowl, mix the sugar and brown sugar together using a wooden spoon or spatula. Add the butter/chocolate mixture and stir again until just combined.

  4. Add the eggs, one at a time and stir after each one. Add the vanilla and mix again.

  5. Add the flour, cocoa and salt. Stir again until just combined. Fold in the remaining chocolate chips.

  6. Set aside about ¼ cup of the brownie batter. Pour the remaining batter into the prepared pan. Set aside.

  7. Cream Cheese Layer: In a medium bowl, add the Hiland Dairy Cream Cheese, egg, sugar, and vanilla. Use a hand or stand mixer to mix all the ingredients together until smooth.

  8. Add the orange food coloring to the cream cheese mixture. Mix one drop at a time and mix by hand until you achieve the desired color

  9. Pour the orange cream cheese layer over top of the brownie layer and smooth out evenly.

  10. Drop a few small spoonfuls of the remaining brownie batter on the cream cheese layer. Use a toothpick or knife to swirl the brownie batter and cream cheese mixture together and make fun orange and brown swirls all around.

  11. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  12. Cool completely and then cut brownies into squares and serve! Happy Halloween!
