  • Onion
  • Minced Garlic
  • Orzo pasta
  • Chicken broth
  • Heavy Cream or Milk
  • Rotisserie Chicken (or shredded chicken breasts/thighs
  • Frozen broccoli florets
  • White Cheddar Cheese
  • Olive oilSalt, pepper

Step-by-Step Instructions:

 

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add a long drizzle of oil. Add the chopped onion to the pan and cook until soft. (about 3-4 minutes)  Add 1 Tablespoon of minced garlic and stir together and cook for another 2 minutes.

  2. Next, add the uncooked orzo, 3 cups chicken broth, 1 cup Hiland Heavy Cream or Milk, 2 cups chopped/shredded chicken, a package of frozen broccoli, 1 teaspoon of salt and pepper. Stir all together and bring to a simmer. 

  3. Continue to cook for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally until thick and creamy and the orzo is soft. 

  4. Remove from heat and sprinkle the shredded cheese over top and mix in. Serve and enjoy!

Tips for Success:

  • Stir the orzo regularly to prevent sticking and ensure creaminess.
