I know you may be thinking, “Rice Krispie Treats?” Um, Laura, the recipe is on the side of the box. I know, I know, but I have a way to make the classic Rice Krispie Treats Recipe into an even better treat than you grew up with. It’s also really easy.
Sidenote- I have called these Rice Krispie Treats my whole life, but I was wrong. I say Rice Krispies when talking about the actual cereal but I feel weird saying Rice Krispies Treats over and over. Too much plural. Does everyone say the plural and I’ve been wrong forever?
So what is the secret ingredient?
I cannot take credit for elevating the classic Rice Krispie Treats Recipe. This is all my mom. She’s a genius and I learned everything from her. So…the secret ingredient is….white chocolate chips. And vanilla. But mostly white chocolate chips. So simple, but such a big impact.
Tips and Tricks for the Perfect Rice Krispie Treats
My bet tip for making the perfect Rice Krispie Treat is to go low and slow. Melt the butter on low, melt the marshmallows and white chocolate chips on low. Everything on low and slow. I feel like it helps the Rice Krispie Treats to stay soft and gooey which is the perfect texture to a treat.
Make sure to turn the heat off when you are ready to add your cereal.
Then another easy tip is to use a small piece of parchment sprayed with some nonstick spray to press your Rice Krispie Treats into the baking dish. You will save your hands or spatula from being a sticky messy mess.
