This Homemade Magic Shell Recipe is one of our favorites. It’s a fun favorite I remember from childhood. The best part is that you can make it homemade with only two ingredients.

What Makes Magic Shell Work?

Magic Shell seems, well, magic. It’s a warm liquid and then instantly turns hard. So what makes the Magic Shell Recipe work? It’s simple. The coconut oil is high in saturated fat and when fats get cold, they harden. So when it’s mixed with chocolate and then hits the cold ice cream, it instantly hardens. Ta da! Magic. (Okay, science)

How to Store Magic Shell

This Magic Shell Recipe is super easy and  storing it is just as simple. I like to keep mine in a mason jar with the screw on top, but a bowl with a lid will work great. Keep it on the counter or in the pantry at room temperature. Heat up in the microwave for about 30 seconds and stir when ready to use again. The magic shell will keep and be good to reuse for about a month.
