It’s spooky season and the classic treats are all getting a Halloween makeover. I absolutely love these Cream Cheese Swirl Brownies because they are easy to make and they have the best of two delicious worlds- a rich, chewy chocolate brownie mixed with a creamy cheesecake layer. And one more little upgrade…make it orange.
This recipe is one of my favorite homemade brownie recipes. No mixer required, only a few simple ingredients. Then the brownies are topped with a creamy cheesecake layer made with my favorite Hiland Dairy Cream Cheese. Hiland has the freshest and creamiest cream cheese and quality of ingredients matter when it comes to cheesecake. Then all you’ll need to make these perfect for spooky season, is a few drops of orange food coloring. I love an easy way to get into Halloween.
Sugar
Brown sugar
Eggs
Vanilla
Flour
Cocoa powder
Salt
These brownies are so simple. Add the wet ingredients to the dry, mix all together with a good old fashioned wooden spoon. That’s it. For these Cream Cheese Swirl Brownies, we will set about ¼ cup of the brownie batter aside to use for our swirl.
Hiland Dairy Cream Cheese
Egg
Vanilla
Sugar
This layer is much easier with a hand mixer so it becomes nice and smooth. Mix all the ingredients together until they are all combined and smooth.
Easy! Food coloring. I actually love using a food coloring gel, but either will work great. Add a little at a time and then mix after each addition until you get your perfect Halloween shade of orange. Swirl the remaining brownie batter with the cream cheese layer and then bake. Simple.
Bake these incredible Halloween Brownies for about 35 minutes, let them cool completely and then cut and serve. The orange swirl on top of the brownies makes them extra special and perfect to serve during Halloween.

A layer of rich, chewy chocolate brownies plus a layer of creamy, smooth cheesecake But make it orange and swirl them together for a fun Halloween treat.
Brownie Layer-
1/2 cup salted butter
2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips (1 cup for melting and 1 cup to put in the batter)
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
3 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Cream Cheese Layer-
8 oz Hiland Dairy Cream Cheese
¼ cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Orange food coloring
Brownie Layer: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and spray a 9×9 pan with nonstick spray or line with parchment paper.
Melt the butter and 1 cup chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl for 30 second increments until melted and smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.
In a large bowl, mix the sugar and brown sugar together using a wooden spoon or spatula. Add the butter/chocolate mixture and stir again until just combined.
Add the eggs, one at a time and stir after each one. Add the vanilla and mix again.
Add the flour, cocoa and salt. Stir again until just combined. Fold in the remaining chocolate chips.
Set aside about ¼ cup of the brownie batter. Pour the remaining batter into the prepared pan. Set aside.
Cream Cheese Layer: In a medium bowl, add the Hiland Dairy Cream Cheese, egg, sugar, and vanilla. Use a hand or stand mixer to mix all the ingredients together until smooth.
Add the orange food coloring to the cream cheese mixture. Mix one drop at a time and mix by hand until you achieve the desired color
Pour the orange cream cheese layer over top of the brownie layer and smooth out evenly.
Drop a few small spoonfuls of the remaining brownie batter on the cream cheese layer. Use a toothpick or knife to swirl the brownie batter and cream cheese mixture together and make fun orange and brown swirls all around.
Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool completely and then cut brownies into squares and serve! Happy Halloween!
