This is the best Texas Sheet Cake Chocolate Peanut Butter cookie recipe ever. So here’s the story, I originally shared my grandma’s recipe for Texas Sheet Cake Peanut Butter Cookies on tiktok and they took off. I mean, I wasn’t surprised, they are the best Texas Sheet Cake Peanut Butter Cookie recipe ever. Then someone suggested I make a chocolate peanut butter version. Genius. Pure genius.
So off I went and grabbed a box chocolate cake mix. Did I mention these are semi homemade? Yep, recipe includes a box cake mix. Easy. Chocolate cake mix and everything else is the same as the original. Peanut butter and all. The best combo ever for this version of Texas Sheet Cake Cookies.
No one really knows the true reason, but rumor is because the original Texas sheet pan cake was huge so it was like the size of Texas. I couldn’t tell you an exact reason, but I know my Grandma made these a lot growing and up and we are from Nebraska so the Texas Sheet Cake Cookie recipe traveled far and wide. No one is disappointed by it either.
– Since this Texas Sheet Cake Cookie recipe calls for a box cake mix as an ingredient, this batter will be thick. I find it easiest to use a stand or hand mixer to get the eggs, oil, and peanut butter fully combined.
– Using a cookie scoop to scoop the batter into balls onto your sheet pan helps so the cookies are all the same size which helps make sure they are all cooked the same. This is my favorite cookie scoop in case you are in the market for one.
– These cookies will look like they are not done when you take them out at 9 or 10 minutes but take them out. They will set up as they cool. This is meant to be a soft cookie.
– I also love using my Silpat which is a silicone mat that lines my sheet pans. No spray required. They are nonstick and clean up with soap and water. Love them!

A super soft cookie full of chocolate and peanut butter flavor topped with a rich peanut butter glaze. The best part is these are semi homemade and uses a box cake mix in the dough. So easy and delicious!
1 chocolate cake box mix
1 cup creamy peanut butter
2 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
Glaze
1 stick butter (1/2 cup)
2/3 cup creamy peanut butter
6 Tablespoons milk
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a baking sheet pan with a silicone mat, parchment paper or nonstick spray and set aside.
2. In a medium size bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer, add the box cake mix, the peanut butter, oil, and eggs. Mix until all combined. Batter will be thick.
3. Using a cookie scoop, scoop batter onto the cookie sheet at least 1 -2 inches apart. These cookies do not spread much. Bake for 9-10 minutes.
4. While the cookies are baking, make the glaze by adding a stick of butter (1/2 cup) to a small saucepan along with the peanut butter and milk. Whisk together on low to medium heat and melt until combined and smooth. Turn heat to low and add the powdered sugar and vanilla. Whisk all together until smooth.
5. Once cookies are done, remove from the oven and let col for about 5 minutes. Then spoon a dollop of the peanut butter glaze over the chocolate cookies. Allow the glaze to set a bit. It will still remain a little soft.
6. You are ready to devour or you can top with flaky sea salt, crushed peanuts or melted chocolate. These are such an incredibly soft and yummy peanut butter chocolate cookie.
