Rolls

How to Make Texas Roadhouse Rolls

Step One: You’ll mix the water, sugar and yeast together then let it sit for about 5 minutes to let the yeast activate. I do this in the bowl of my stand mixer. Then to that I add the milk, butter and salt. Mix together. Add the egg, Mix again. Then add the bread flour. Mix again until combined.

Step Two: Then add the bread flour. Mix again until combined. Scrape the bowl down, then mix it on medium speed for 3 minutes straight. Remove the paddle attachment and switch it with the dough hook attachment. Mix the dough again for 3 minutes.

Step Three: Transfer the dough into a lightly sprayer bowl and cover with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap. Place in a warm spot and let the dough rise for about 2 hours or until it has doubled in size.

Step Four: Take the dough out and gently punch the dough back down. Remove from the bowl and then cut the dough in half and half again until you have 12 equal portions. Roll into smooth balls and place in a lightly sprayed 9×13 baking dish. Cover with the kitchen towel and let rise another 30 minutes.

Step Five: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and bake the rolls for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and brush with the remaining butter. Serve with the whipped cinnamon honey butter.

Make Ahead Tips

These rolls and cinnamon honey butter are a great recipe to make ahead of time. Especially if you are making them for Thanksgiving or another large gathering because then it’s one less thing to worry about.

Make the rolls and the cinnamon honey butter up to 4-5 days ahead of time. Place the rolls in an airtight container or bag and keep at room temp. Resist putting them in the refrigerator because it will dry them out.

You can also freeze these fantastic rolls! Make these anytime, cool the rolls and then individually wrap each one in plastic wrap and place in the freezer. Thaw before warming and serving.
