How to Make American Flag Fruit Pizza

Step 1: Make the Sugar Cookie Crust

Whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl. Set aside.

In a stand mixer, cream the butter and sugar together for a few minutes until creamy. Scrape the sides of the bowl. Then add the egg and vanilla extract. Mix again. Add the dry ingredients and then mix on low until combined.

Wrap the dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes up to 24 hours.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a 9×13 cookie sheet with parchment paper and nonstick spray.

Press the chilled sugar cookie dough into an even layer on the baking sheet. Bake for 16-18 minutes or until the edges just start to turn golden brown.

Step 2: Make the Frosting

In a stand mixer, beat the Hiland Dairy Cream Cheese and butter together until smooth and creamy. Add the powdered sugar, salt and vanilla. Mix again until smooth.

Once the sugar cookie is cooled completely, spread the cream cheese frosting over the top in an even layer.

Step 3: Decorate the American Flag

Arrange blueberries in the top left corner to create the “stars” section of the flag. Then add rows of sliced strawberries across the dessert to create the stripes.

Chill before slicing and serving.

Tips for the Best Fruit Pizza

  • Make sure the crust is completely cooled before adding frosting
