Appetizers are one of my favorite types of foods, I think I just love anything that is bite size or dippable. Plus you can have a variety of different things all at once, I love options.
This is my latest offering to your appetizer world, Toasted Chicken Bacon Ranch Pinwheels. Long name for an incredibly delicious appetizer recipe. Plus, this chicken appetizer also has options for how you’d like to make and eat it
It’s incredibly easy to make, with just a few simple ingredients and steps. A few ingredients all mixed together and spread onto a large tortilla and rolled. Easy.
Classic Appetizer. The Pinwheel is a classic appetizer that everyone knows and loves.
Choose whether to serve this cold or toasted. You can serve these Pinwheels as cold after you roll and cut, or choose to toast them in the air fryer or oven for a melty warm appetizer.
It’s a family-friendly appetizer that both kids and adults will love. Kids and adults will love this creamy comforting finger food recipe
Chicken – Use breast, thigh or rotisserie chicken for this recipe. Cooked ahead and shredded.
Cream Cheese – All good comfort food apps start with cream cheese
Bacon – Bacon makes everything better, it just does.
Ranch Seasoning – As a true Midwestern, Ranch flavoring is near and dear to my heart and adds a ton of flavor
Cheese – Shredded cheddar cheese will get all melty when this appetizer is toasted
Tortillas – The perfect vehicle to roll up all the creamy goodness
Milk – Used just to thin out the creamy mixture
Add everything into one bowl: In a large bowl, add the softened cream cheese, cooked and shredded chicken, bacon pieces, cheese, ranch seasoning, and milk. Mix all together until combined.
Spread onto the Tortilla: Lay a large burrito size tortilla flat and spread the creamy chicken mixture out in a layer over the tortilla. Leave a ½ inch border around the edge.
Roll Up and Chill: Roll the tortilla up and then continue with the remaining tortillas and filling. Place the rolled tortillas into the fridge for 10-15 minutes to set. This makes cutting them into slices easier.
Cut into Pinwheels: After the fridge, remove and cut into about 2 inch thick slices. They are ready to serve now or….
Toast Them: Spray some nonstick spray onto the pinwheels and then place in the air fryer to cook for 2 minutes at 375 degrees, flip and then cook another minute or until slighted toasted and golden. You can also toast these in the oven at 350 degrees and bake for 3 minutes, flip and then 2 more minutes.
Serve: Ready to serve cold or warm! Add some ranch dip for dipping!
Storing: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheating: Place back into the air fryer at 350 for a couple minutes to warm up. Or microwave for 90 seconds on 50% power.
Make sure your cream cheese is room temperature or softened. This makes it much easier to mix with the ingredients. Take the cream cheese out of the fridge an hour or so before you are ready to mix.
Rotisserie chicken to make this super easy. Takes away an extra step of cooking your own chicken and shredding.
Large Burrito size tortillas are easy to spread the mixture out on and roll up but any size tortilla will work.
Chill the filled and rolled up tortillas in the fridge for 10 to 15 minutes before slicing into Pinwheels. This helps make cutting the rolled tortillas easier and sturdier.
